Living life the old way?what to do?

In the old days many women would be either illiterate, or only semi-educated. It would not be possible for them to write to others and tell them they would rather be the nurturer, impossible for them to read the items on the shelves of the General Store, or how they picked berries, or how they did not want to be like the Amish, or even what heritage they had in their families. In fact, in the old days the women would feel sick and confined in their homes and their very small worlds, and would yearn for a house and a horse and buggy of their own, and for better clothes, and to travel far away on a boat. Sometimes spending their whole lives with their families and no one else would leave these poor women very unsatisfied in spirit.
