Wife is upset because I pulled a feather from her canary to put in a letter. Should she be upset?

The feather was almost off naturally. I just wanted to include the feather in a letter I was sending to a girl I met the other week at a coffee shop. She knows me as "Nature Boy" and I wanted something of a calling card.
