The trouble with your statement is that "the people" did once have control of the labour party and look what happened. King Arthur, Red Robbo and the rest of the hard-left almost brought this country to its knees - and Bob Crow is still trying to do so. Love her or loathe her, most independent observers see Thatcher's overall legacy as a positive rather than a negative. And despite all of the psuedo-socialist ertions, I cannot name one thing introduced by Thatcher/Major that has since been overturned by Nu Layber in their eleven years of government.
